Jamestown on Repeat

We are so entirely smitten with the sweeping views that surround -- Newport's suspension bridge, Rose Island, Goat Island, Newport Harbor, Fort Adams--and the gentle bounce of Jamestown mooring field reminding us we are afloat, that we opted to stay for one more night. The north wind this morning cleared out the summer haze and brought somewhat cooler temperatures and strikingly clear air.
At breakfast we discussed Bodhi's regatta schedule and, Dan noted how dedicated Bodhi's parents are for driving him to various regattas, including an upcoming one in Newport this Sunday. Kiddingly, he suggested that Bodhi might agree that his parents are "the best." Not missing a beat, Bodhi said, "You are the best parents... I've ever had."
Captain Dan offered to treat to lunch and so we headed shore around 1 p.m. for a bite at Spinnaker's Cafe after a walk with the dog along the beach that reaches from Jamestown's center northward, toward the bridge. Once ashore, Bodhi received a call from a friend whose family was coming to town for ice cream and we met up with them for some hang time. Bodhi's pal, sensing Izzie's newfound daring sensibility as she teetered precariously on the edge of the cement revetment which dropped about 6-feet to the water, said, "Come on back, Izzie -- you've got a lot to live for..."
We had an easy late afternoon -- reading, painting, relaxing and then a late dinner of a familiar favorite -- salmon sandwiches with chili-lime mayo and green beans. Bodhi fashioned cockpit lighting with his cell phone flashlight and the air was cool enough to require a layer of fleece.
The forecast calls for a chance of rain and thunderstorms tomorrow morning, so we aim to get an early start as we make our way back up the bay for our last night, we think, of cruising aboard Puffling.
