Walking, Walking

Updated: Jul 17, 2020

In preparation for next week's three-day Laser regatta in Marblehead, we were asked to supply a specific type of tie-down strap to secure Bodhi's boat to the trailer. Dan and I found a local surf shop online, did a quick Google Maps search and opted to walk the 1.2 miles to town and then back, of course with our furry friend. Whoops! It turned out to be a three-mile commute each way and one mile as the crow flies. As Dan said, "Bonus miles!" By the end of the day, we were all beat, Bodhi from hiking out all day, Izzie from her extreme walk and we parents from the dizzying amount of fresh air and the bonus miles.

Our Brenton Cove pontoon has been a gorgeous spot for taking in two beautiful summer evenings which folded into cool, crisp nights in which we cozied up with extra blankets for rounds of Canasta and solid sleep. My batch of homemade brownies was met with excitement by the junior sailor on board. Our Captain preferred a hot toddy with decaf and splash of Bailey's. I had the pleasure of indulging in both delights.

This morning's dinghy ride to shore was a wet one. With the forecast for patchy rain and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. we are foregoing our plan to return to Portsmouth in the evening and planning to take Puffling back to her slip imminently, before any thunderstorm-related excitement might come our way.
